Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a fixed, non-removable dental restoration that provides an effective solution for replacing missing teeth.

There are several types of dental bridges available, and your dentist will work with you to determine which option best suits your needs. The most common choice is the “traditional bridge,” typically crafted from porcelain fused to metal for both strength and a natural appearance. This type of bridge uses two crowns placed over the anchoring (abutment) teeth on either side of the gap. These crowns are connected to one or more artificial teeth, called pontics, which fill the space left by missing teeth.

Dental bridges are built for durability and can last many years with proper care. However, over time, they may require replacement or re-cementing as a result of normal wear.

Why Choose a Fixed Bridge?

  • Fill the gap left by missing teeth.
  • Help maintain the natural shape of your face.
  • Prevent nearby teeth from shifting out of position.
  • Restore your ability to chew and speak clearly.
  • Bring back your confident smile.
  • Upgrade from a removable partial denture to a permanent, fixed dental solution.

What to Expect During a Fixed Bridge Procedure

Getting a dental bridge typically involves two or more appointments. During the first visit, our team will numb the area and prepare the two anchoring teeth by carefully removing a small amount of enamel to make room for the crowns. Then, an accurate impression (mold) of your teeth is taken and sent to a dental lab, where your custom bridge will be created. In the meantime, you’ll wear a temporary bridge to protect your teeth and gums until your next visit.

During your second appointment, our dentist will carefully check and adjust your permanent bridge to ensure it fits comfortably and securely. Sometimes, the bridge may be temporarily cemented first, giving your teeth and gums time to adapt. Once everything feels right, the dentist will permanently cement the bridge in place.

At the end of your procedure, our dental team will provide you with detailed care instructions. By practicing good brushing and flossing habits, along with scheduling regular dental checkups, you can help your new permanent bridge last for many years.
